Fundraising for Ben's Centre

Ben’s has had many wonderful individuals and groups perform great challenges to raise money for us. Big or small, you deciding to fundraise for us means so much. We have recently put together some new promotional materials to help assist people who want to fundraise for us and thought it would be a great time to talk about how to get involved with fundraising.

We currently are virtually cheering Rachel who will run the Yorkshire Marathon in aid of Ben’s Centre on the 17th of October. You can support her fundraising page here: Rachel's Fundraiser .

Ideas

  • Join an organised sporting event such as a marathon, triathlon, 5km etc. Or do your own sponsored run/swim/walk/cycle in your own time in your local area or leisure centre.

  • Selling wares, crafts, bric-a-brac, produce or baked goods for Ben’s Centre, or contributing a set amount from each sale from an Etsy shop.

  • Set up a collection point in your school, community group or workplace. You could also run a collection at a special event, for instance a Birthday fundraiser.

  • Events such as live music or drama, bingo, gaming or quizzes.

  • Personal or unique feats such as a ‘No Chocolate’ month, a sponsored silence or endurance challenges.

What Ben’s can provide

  • Custom sponsorship forms, electronic promotional materials and logos for kit or marketing items.

  • Fundraising collection buckets

  • Promotion across our social media channels to help you raise money or publicise your event

  • Assistance with setting up web or text donation services.

Where will your money go

As an independent charity, we self-fund most areas of our operations. We are very lucky to get support from local and national grant organisations, but as you can imagine, in order to sustain and grow, we also rely on donations and fundraising from events.

To give an idea, someone raising £150 for Ben’s would provide all of our clients with a hot meal, fresh fruit and hot and cold drinks for a week. £10 could cover the costs of a client coming to Ben’s to eat and drink for a week.

We also have our training and education programme, ‘Plant a Seed’ and another big ‘secret’ project in the works that we are directing funds too. You can read more about Plant a Seed on our project page, and stay tuned for more information on the secret project.

Outside of the Day Centre, Danny and Vern are busy on the streets of Sheffield providing vulnerable people with water, medication, food and support. All of our project and support workers provide so much for clients and are integral to the running of Ben’s Centre and the wellbeing of the people that come here.

If you have something specific you would like to raise money for, please do have a chat with us and we can see how we can make that happen.
